The Belgian city of Liege decides to boycott Israel

Written by Hassan Al-Balaawi
The Belgian newspaper "Le Soir" reported that the municipal council of the city of Liege, one of the most important cities, voted in a boycott decision (of a symbolic nature) requiring "a temporary freeze of all forms of relations with the State of Israel as long as it does not put an end to the system of violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and international law."
The draft resolution was submitted by the Belgian Workers' Party and was approved by the Socialist Party and the Green Party.
It is ironic to mention that the city of Liege has been linked to a twinning relationship with the city of Ramallah since 2016 and does not have any relationship with the occupying state or its embassy in Brussels.
