The European Union pledged 1.5 billion to support the Syrian people and will not resort to normalization with Damascus, as the Arab League did

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said: The Syrian issue remains at the top of the international agenda in the search for a political solution. Today, the European Union pledged €1.5 billion for the benefit of the Syrian people and host communities at the Syria_2023 conference in Brussels. We stand with the Syrian people, he said, according to Luis Bueno, the European Union's spokesman for Middle East and North Africa, in a tweet on Twitter.
For its part, the United Kingdom has pledged up to £150 million this year to support the Syrian people in Syria and the region.
According to media reports, the European Union's foreign policy official, Josep Borrell, said today, Thursday, that the Union would not have chosen the path of normalizing its relations with the Syrian regime as the Arab League did, stressing at an international conference in the Belgian capital Brussels to support the Syrian refugees that the international community cannot ignore the plight of these refugees.
Borrell considered in his speech before the conference "Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region" that conditions are not available to change the European Union's policy towards Syria, and stressed that the Union "will not back down from supporting the Syrian people."
According to Al-Masad itself, "It was expected that the issue of Syrian refugees would dominate the closing day of the Syria Support Conference, but the issue of Damascus' return to the League of Arab States dominated today's discussions. I love Al-Jazeera website."
Borrell said that the countries of the European Union did not wish that the Arab League would normalize its relations with the Syrian regime (last month). Ways of a political settlement in Syria

The European official also spoke about the Union providing financial support to meet the needs of the Syrian refugees at a value of one billion and 500 million euros this year, and 300 million euros next year.
However, international organizations and some Arab countries hosting Syrian refugees see this European support as insufficient.
