The Union for the Mediterranean celebrated its fifteenth year, and the union brings together 43 countries from the European Union and the southern neighboring countries to work together on common challenges in our region, according to what was mentioned in his tweet on Twitter, Luis Bueno, spokesperson for the European Union in the Middle East and North Africa.
The Union for the Mediterranean: an organization driven by action and rooted in common ambition, is an intergovernmental organization that brings together all twenty-seven countries of the European Union and sixteen countries of the southern and eastern Mediterranean.
The organization wrote on its official website, saying, "There is no development without security, and there is no security without development. It is of crucial importance that we strengthen the link between security and development in order to create the appropriate environment conducive to socio-economic development and to address in a comprehensive and balanced manner the challenges facing the region. The Union for the Mediterranean is, Thanks to its geographical composition, institutional governance and methodology, it is the optimal organization that takes into account the respective priorities of the European Union, as embodied in the revised European Neighborhood Policy and the Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy, and the countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean.
Regarding its mission, the organization's official website said, "Promoting regional cooperation and dialogue and implementing specific projects and initiatives that have a tangible impact on the ground, especially on young people, in order to achieve the three strategic goals of the organization, which are human development, stability and regional integration."
The impact of the activities of the Union for the Mediterranean on regional stability through its connection with the development dimension is an important feature of the well-being of the region as a whole. By emphasizing the two main pillars of action: promoting human development and promoting sustainable regional development, UfM projects and initiatives contribute to regional stability and integration, whether for example through the major cross-sectoral job creation initiative “Mediterranean Employment Initiative” or as a result of the socio-economic impact of the infrastructure Strategic infrastructure and innovative urban development projects through the Urban Projects Financing Initiative.

Effective actions for the average
The Union for the Mediterranean is working proactively to achieve higher levels of integration and cooperation in the region through a specific methodology that has yielded positive results in terms of political dialogue and the implementation of regional initiatives in which youth play a fundamental role.
With over 60 projects bearing the Organization's seal and more than 300 ministerial and expert forums attended by 25,000 stakeholders since 2012, the activities of the Union for the Mediterranean are vivid proof of the strong belief that regional challenges require regional solutions and that there is no security without development.
Reinforcing their commitment to work together for a deep and effective Euro-Mediterranean regional cooperation agenda, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the UfM Member States endorsed a new roadmap in January 2017 entitled “The Union for the Mediterranean: An Action-Based Organization with a Common Ambition”.
