Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The European Union welcomed the agreement to release 50 hostages from Gaza for a long-term cessation of the conflict. According to what Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy coordinator, previously wrote on the X " twitter" website, he added, “After 7 weeks of suffering, they will finally be reunited with their families. We demand "Immediately release all hostages."
A statement was issued in Brussels by the President of the European Commission, Ursula Fon-Derlein, which said: “I warmly welcome the agreement reached on the release of the 50 hostages and the cessation of hostilities. Every day that these mothers and children are held hostage by terrorists is one day too many. I share The joy of families who will soon be able to embrace their loved ones again. I am deeply grateful to all those who have worked tirelessly through diplomatic channels in recent weeks to broker this agreement. I call on the terrorist group Hamas to immediately release all hostages and allow them to return home safely.
The European Commission will do its utmost to take advantage of this pause in order to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza. I have asked Commissioner Janez Lenarčić to increase additional shipments to Gaza as soon as possible to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
