Netherlands: 110 million for fireworks at the start of the new year celebrations...and racist graffiti on a bridge in Rotterdam

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
A record amount of fireworks was purchased in the Netherlands this year. The media in the neighboring country, Belgium, quoted an organization interested in this regard as saying that the volume of sales of fireworks dealers amounted to 110 million euros, to celebrate the end of the year 2022 and the beginning of the new year.
The turn-of-the-year sales record in 2019-2020 was the highest when €77m worth of fireworks were launched in the Netherlands. In the next two years, fireworks were banned due to the Corona pandemic.
According to the same source, 10 percent of the increase in sales volume is due to inflation and the rise in prices of fireworks. “A lot is sold out. The enthusiasm for the fireworks is very high this year.”
On the other hand, in the same context, racist texts were displayed on the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, at the beginning of the year. This was confirmed by a police spokeswoman in statements to one of the RTL Nieuws TV channels. The police are currently investigating the incident.
