Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt's Ambassador to the European Union, NATO, Belgium and Luxembourg, met with the President of the European Parliament "Roberta Metsola" at the Parliament's headquarters in Brussels yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the embassy's Facebook page, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid stated that the meeting discussed the course of Egyptian-European relations after upgrading them to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership in March 2024, and the important role played by the European Parliament in its legislative capacity in supporting this partnership and facilitating the implementation of its economic and political axes.
The Egyptian ambassador explained that the meeting discussed the pivotal Egyptian role in supporting stability and peace in the Middle East, and exchanging views on regional and international files of common interest, as the President of the European Parliament expressed her desire to maintain constant communication with the Egyptian side to understand its vision of how to resolve regional crises, most notably the Gaza Strip crisis, the ceasefire in Lebanon and de-escalation in the region in general. The two sides also discussed ways to support economic and social development efforts in Egypt in light of the complete interconnection between the stability and prosperity of the European Union's southern neighborhood and achieving European interests. .
