A Syrian military source announced today, Sunday, that units of the armed forces confronted terrorist organizations and prevented them from achieving any breach in the northern Hama countryside.
Syrian state television quoted the source as saying that the forces operating in the northern Hama countryside direction were able to strengthen their defensive lines last night with various means of fire, personnel and equipment, and confronted terrorist organizations.
He pointed out that the Syrian armed forces were also able to secure a number of areas after expelling the terrorists from them, the most important of which are Qalaat al-Madiq and Maardus, and eliminated dozens of them while the rest fled.
This came after armed elements withdrew from the city of Halfaya, north of Hama, towards Idlib in Syria, and military reinforcements continued to arrive for the Syrian army on the outskirts of Hama city in central Syria, according to Cairo News Channel, in an urgent news item.
Syrian and Russian warplanes targeted convoys belonging to armed factions that withdrew from the northern Hama countryside to the southern Idlib countryside.
Meanwhile, the Russian embassy in Damascus confirmed that it will continue its work as usual, while taking safety measures to preserve the safety of civilians following the events in Aleppo.
Reuters reported, citing Syrian military sources, that Damascus expects new Russian military equipment to arrive at the Hmeimim air base within hours.
The sources added that Damascus has received promises of additional support from the Russian army to prevent militants from taking control of Aleppo.
The Syrian army is still being attacked by armed groups in Aleppo, and has mobilized its forces in multiple locations 25 kilometers from the city in preparation for a counterattack.
