Monkeypox virus was first diagnosed in a woman in Belgium. This was announced by Baudouin Katri of the Health Institute "Sciensano. According to local media, 546 confirmed cases of monkeypox have already been reported in our country. This relates to 304 cases in Flanders (56 per cent), 187 in Brussels (34 per cent) and 55 in Wallonia (10 per cent). Almost all patients (96 percent) had skin lesions. About 66 percent had general symptoms such as fever and feeling unwell. Thirty percent have swollen lymph nodes. Twenty-eight people have already been hospitalized, but none have been transferred to the intensive care unit. There are no deaths in our country. The virus is still transmitted mainly through sexual contact between men. So far, they have all been men who have been diagnosed with the infection. That has now changed.
