Brussels: Europe and Arabs
In a statement issued by the Office of the High Coordinator for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell, the European official reiterated that, in times of war in Ukraine, with the current challenges, Europe does not need any tensions. But solutions are needed. Commenting on the announcement of an agreement between Serbia and Kosovo on freedom of movement, Borrell said in the statement distributed in Brussels, "We need solutions in the Western Balkans. Today we have found a solution. There are some outstanding problems and we will need to continue working to solve them. But today is the day Very good, and I have this good news to announce I am pleased to announce that after last week’s High Level Dialogue meeting in Brussels and extensive follow-up efforts in Pristina and Belgrade in the past few days, today we have an agreement on freedom of movement between President Aleksandar Vucic of Serbia and Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti. Under the EU-facilitated dialogue, Serbia agreed to cancel entry/exit documents for Kosovo identity card holders, and Kosovo agreed not to provide them to Serbian ID holders. Kosovo Serbs, as well as all other citizens, will be able to travel freely between Kosovo and Serbia using identity cards. The European Union has received guarantees from Prime Minister Kurti to this end. I am very happy that we found a European solution that facilitates travel between Kosovo and Serbia. This is in the interest of all citizens of Kosovo and Serbia. I would like to thank both leaders for making this happen, especially President Vucic, who demonstrated responsibility and leadership today. The past few days have also been an example of excellent practical cooperation between the European Union and the United States, and I would like to thank our American partners for their support of the EU-facilitated dialogue. I would also like to thank EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajac for the excellent work he has done. But this work on freedom of movement is far from over. There are still some issues outstanding and I expect both leaders to continue to show pragmatism and constructiveness in order to solve the license plate issue
