The European Union Commission in Brussels today welcomed the inauguration of the Baltic Pipeline, at the opening ceremony of this new gas pipeline in Golenov, Poland.
According to a European statement issued in Brussels on Tuesday, it said that with the European Union intensifying its efforts to enhance the security of energy supplies, this new infrastructure will promote the diversification of gas imports in Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic states by opening a new route from the North Sea to the European Union.
Energy Commissioner, Kadri Simsun said: “The Baltic Pipeline is a key project to secure supplies in the region and as a result of the EU’s policy to diversify gas sources. The pipeline will play an important role in alleviating the current energy crisis.” The Commission has long supported this project politically and financially as part of From its work to improve energy infrastructure in the European Union under the TEN-E regulation.The Baltic Pipeline has been a project of mutual interest since 2013, and has received approximately €267 million in EU funding through the Connect Europe Facility (CEF), helping to complete Preparatory studies (about 51 million euros) and construction works (about 215 million euros).
 It will enable the import of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year of gas from Norway to Poland via Denmark and the transfer of 3 billion cubic meters per year of gas from Poland to Denmark.
Gas transportation is scheduled to start on October 1, 2022
