On instructions from the Moroccan King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Moroccan Armed Forces, the 19th edition of the African Lion exercise was launched jointly with the US Armed Forces, which will continue until June 16. According to the Middle East News Agency, at dawn today, Tuesday.
A statement by the General Command of the Moroccan Armed Forces stated that, Monday, yesterday, the opening ceremony was organized at the headquarters of the General Command of the Southern Region in Agadir, to announce the official launch of this joint multinational exercise, in the presence of representatives of the participating countries.
The statement indicated that the "African Lion 2023" exercise, to be organized in seven regions in Morocco, namely: Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mahbas, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tafnit, is an annual date that contributes to the consolidation of Moroccan-American military cooperation, as well as strengthening exchange between the armed forces of various countries. In order to enhance security and stability in the region, the training began
