French investigative authorities have brought charges against a fifth person who was arrested in connection with planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in Belgium last year. According to what was reported by the Belgian News Agency on Friday evening
Agence France-Presse learned of this from judicial sources. It concerns the older sister of a teenager who was previously accused in the same case.
The investigation began in June 2023, after conversations were discovered between several teenagers, including a 15-year-old from the department of Inder-Eloire, believed to be the leader of the gang. There was talk of a "violent act" against the Israeli embassy in Brussels.
The plan was to first shoot police officers stationed outside the building in Oakley and then hit the building with a truck "full of explosives." Le Parisien newspaper reported in October last year that they would then execute the surviving civilians.
The 20-year-old woman was arrested last Monday in Indre-et-Loire and was charged yesterday Friday with, among other things, forming a terrorist gang. A police source said that she would not have been the mastermind behind the planned attack, but she would have provided the recipe for manufacturing the explosives and contributed to her brother's radicalization.
