Former US President Donald Trump denounced the summons to testify issued by the Congressional Committee "January 6", wondering why he was not summoned earlier.
“Why didn't the unelected committee ask me to testify months ago?” Trump said on Truth Social, after lawmakers looking into the attack on the US Capitol voted to compel him to testify.
Trump asked: "Why did they wait until the end, the last moments of their last meeting?", adding, "Because the committee is a complete failure and has only worked to further divide our country."
On January 6, 2021, Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol, and the storming led to evictions and closures of the Capitol, disrupting a joint session of Congress to count the electoral votes and formalizing Joe Biden's electoral victory.
Protesters gathered to support President Trump's persistent allegations that the 2020 elections had been stolen from him, which were part of his months-long effort to nullify the election results.
On the other hand, US President Joe Biden said that inflation will get worse if Republicans win the midterm congressional elections scheduled for next year.
He added - in statements in Los Angeles that were reported by the American newspaper "The Hill" -: "The Democrats are defending workers."
"We've had an election a month, voters have to decide... Democrats are working to lower the cost of the things they talk about around the kitchen table, from medications, to health insurance, to energy bills and so much more," he said.
His comments came on the heels of consumer price index data which showed inflation rose 0.4 percent in September and 8.2 percent over the past 12 months.
Earlier today, Biden said - in a statement - that the report shows progress but there is more work to be done.
Biden continued, in his statements, that the price of gas is very high and there is more to be done to reduce it, adding that he will talk more about gas prices next week.
