The Prime Minister of Belgium met the Egyptian Ambassador in Brussels and informed him of his aspiration to participate in the Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh

During a meeting with the Ambassador of Egypt to Belgium, Dr. Badr Abdel Atti, with Belgian Prime Minister Alexandre de Croo on the sidelines of the Green Hydrogen Forum held in the Belgian city of Antwerp, the Belgian Prime Minister expressed his aspiration to participate in the Climate Change Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh on November 7 and 8. What was confirmed by the sources of the Egyptian embassy in the Belgian capital Thursday, in a written statement to "Europe and the Arabs"
This comes after confirmation of the attendance of European Union President Charles Michel, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and leaders of member states of the united bloc, other European events for the work of the World Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh.
The summit file will also be present in the discussions of the European Union environment ministers on the twenty-fourth of this month in Brussels, as well as the discussion of the file of the fifteenth United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity (COP 15). According to what was issued by the European Ministerial Council, the ministers will hold political discussions on the Commission's proposals related to industrial emissions directives, landfill directives, and environmental design regulations.
Previously, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the European Union, met with the Adviser to the President of the European Commission for the European Green Deal, Environment and Climate Affairs, and the Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission. And ways to support cooperation between the two sides in all areas of common interest to achieve mutual interest, especially in the areas of exporting clean energy from Egypt to the European Union.
The meeting dealt in detail with the substantive and organizational arrangements that Egypt is making to host the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), where the Egyptian ambassador stressed that the Egyptian presidency attaches great importance to the participation of all parties concerned with the issue of climate change, especially civil society and non-governmental organizations concerned with issues of climate change. The environment and companies working in the areas of innovation and green transformation.
For its part, the European side expressed its appreciation for these efforts in light of the interest the European Union attaches to issues of climate change, and its reliance on the Egyptian presidency to make the conference a success and produce the desired positive results.
The meeting also touched on the importance of strengthening the existing cooperation between Egypt and the European Union in the energy sector, and exporting Egyptian green hydrogen to Europe, taking into account Egypt's status as a regional center for energy production, distribution and trading in the region.
