Within the framework of their green partnership: the European Union allocates 115 million euros to support the development of the agricultural and forestry sectors in Morocco

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs

The European Commission in Brussels today adopted a new €115 million program to support the green, inclusive and innovative development of Morocco's agriculture and forestry sectors.
The "Green Land" program aims to contribute to the Moroccan national strategies "Green Generation" and "Forests of Morocco", covering the period 2020-2030, by promoting an environmental transition that is conducive to creating decent job opportunities in Morocco in the agricultural and forestry sectors.
The program has three specific objectives: support for viable agricultural value chains, forest protection and management, and job creation and social inclusion in both sectors. According to a statement issued in Brussels today, the Green Partnership between the European Union and Morocco is the first initiative of its kind led by the European Union with a partner country. It aims to enhance the external dimension of the European Green Deal by working on the ground and should become a model for similar partnerships with other countries, including the African continent, where Morocco is already leading in terms of environmental and climate ambitions.
Ahead of COP27, the “Climate Summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt,” this partnership also sends a strong political signal to the shared ambition to address the climate emergency.
