Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Despite the high prices of some basic commodities and the economic troubles caused by the war in Ukraine now, and before that due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the number of newly registered passenger cars in the European Union reached 745,855 cars in October. An increase from the previous year by 12.2 percent. Thus, car sales are rising for the third month in a row, although sales for the first ten months of the year remained significantly lower than last year's. This is evidenced by figures released on Thursday by the European manufacturers' organization Acea
According to media reports in Brussels, with approximately 746,000 passenger cars, sales remained approximately 290,000 units below the level of October 2019, before the outbreak of Corona. In large auto markets such as Germany (+16.8 percent), Italy (+14.6 percent) and Spain (+11.7 percent), there was growth of more than 10 percent last month.
This is the third consecutive increase, the Belgian news agency said, from January to July there has been a decline each time. This is also reflected in the European figures for January-October: -8.1% to 7.53 million passenger cars.
The Belgian figures have already been reported by the Vibiac sector consortium. New car sales in Belgium rose in October for the third consecutive month. With 30,451 registered, sales increased by more than a fifth (21.6 percent) from last year's October. Vebiac noted that October sales are below the market average for the past decade. During the first 10 months, Belgian car sales remained nearly 8 percent lower than those of 2021, to 311,941 in total.
