Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Russia's military aggression against Ukraine has disrupted international trade in goods, particularly trade in energy products. According to a source issued by the European Statistical Office in Brussels "Eurostat"
Looking at seasonally adjusted values, Russia's share in EU energy imports was fairly stable until the first quarter of 2022 (between 26.0% and 27.6%).
The share fell sharply between the first and second quarters of 2022 and this downward trend continued between the second and third quarters of 2022.
Overall, Russia's share of energy imports into the EU decreased by more than 10 percentage points between the first and third quarters of 2022, from 25.5% to 15.1%.
In the second quarter of 2022, the total share of the United States and the United Kingdom was 1.4 percentage points higher than that of Russia, and this difference grew to 4.8 parts in the third quarter of 2022. In the third quarter of this year, energy imports from the United States accounted for 12.2 % of the total and from the UK 7.7%.
In conjunction with this, the Russian energy giant "Gazprom" announced a reduction in natural gas supplies to Europe, starting next Monday.
The company said, according to the American news channel "CNN" on Tuesday, that the reduction will be made by reducing the flow to the pipeline that passes through Ukraine.
The Russian company added that "the gas allocated to Moldova is withheld in Ukraine, so it will reduce supplies to the Sudza pipeline to account for the difference, noting that the volume of gas provided by Gazprom to the Sudza GIS company for transportation to Moldova through the territory of Ukraine exceeds Transferred volume on the border of Ukraine with Moldova
