Electric cars are an important part of energy mobility. They are becoming increasingly popular, and the international trade in hybrid (plugged in and non-plugged) and fully electric vehicles is on the rise. According to the publication of the European Statistical Office in Brussels: Eurostat "He added that in 2021, the EU spent 11.8 billion euros on imports of plug-in hybrid cars (41% of all EU imports of hybrid and electric cars), 11.4 billion euros on fully electric vehicles (39%) and €5.9 billion on plug-in hybrids (20%).For all three vehicle classes, the value of imports was lower than the corresponding value of exports from the European Union.Exports of plug-in hybrid vehicles amounted to €22.9 billion, which is Hybrid and electric vehicles account for more than half of all exports outside the EU (55%), fully electric vehicles worth €12.3 billion (29%) and plug-in hybrid vehicles €6.8 billion (16%).

The total value of exports increased by 800% compared to 2017
In terms of value, total exports outside the EU of hybrid and electric vehicles in 2021 amounted to €42 billion, which represents an increase of almost 800% compared to 2017 (€4.7 billion). The total value of imports increased by more than 400%, from 5.6 billion euros in 2017 to 29 billion euros in 2021.
Imports of fully electric vehicles increased by 2,400% compared to 2017

The value of imports of plug-in hybrid vehicles into the EU increased by 165% in 2021 compared to 2017 (€11.8 billion in 2021 compared to €4.5 billion in 2017). In the same period, the value of imports of hybrid cars increased by nearly 800% (€5.9 billion compared to €0.67 billion) and the value of electric vehicle imports jumped by 2400% (€11.4 billion compared to €0.46 billion).

And in terms of exports, the largest increase was for plug-in hybrids. In 2021, exports increased by more than 5,000% compared to 2017 (22.9 billion euros in 2021 compared to 0.4 billion euros in 2017). Exports of fully electric vehicles increased by 660% (€12.3 billion compared to €1.6 billion), while exports of plug-in hybrid cars increased by 150% (€6.8 billion compared to €2.7 billion).
