Gas prices in Europe rise by 7%, and blue fuel contracts exceed the $800 level

Gas prices rose in European markets, in today's trading, by about 7%, and blue fuel contracts rose above the level of $800 per thousand cubic meters.

According to Russia Today, by 10:31 Moscow time, February futures contracts on the TTF index (the largest center in Europe is located in the Netherlands) rose by 7% to $811.4 per thousand cubic meters.

The contracts had started trading today at the level of 773.6 dollars, and they ended trading last Friday at 758.5 dollars per thousand cubic meters.

On January 5, 2023, gas prices in Europe fell for the first time in about 16 months, below the level of $700 per thousand cubic meters.

At the time, experts pointed out that the drop in gas prices on the European stock exchange was linked to the rise in temperatures in Europe and the increase in wind energy generation. Bloomberg reported that January is expected to be the warmest month in Europe in recent years.
