Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Various media reports focused on the latest developments in the Ukrainian arena, and indicated the loss in terms of equipment and personnel that the Russian army suffered.
And those reports quoted the announcement of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, today (Friday), shooting down a Su-25 fighter, a Mi-24 helicopter, and seven drones belonging to the Russian forces, during the past 24 hours.

The General Staff said in a statement that the Ukrainian Air Force launched 13 raids on the concentration areas of the Russian forces, noting that the Ukrainian forces also managed to repel 85 attacks by the Russian forces during the past day, according to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

It noted that Russian forces carried out 31 air raids and three missile strikes, in particular, on civilian infrastructure in Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.

She explained that the attacks resulted in the injury of civilians and damage to civilian buildings, adding that 88 attacks using multiple launch rocket systems were recorded.

On February 24 of last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, indicating that this operation came in response to a request for help from the presidents of the Donbass republics.

Putin stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian lands, but aimed at disarmament, and the United States and its allies responded by imposing tough sanctions and increasing arms supplies to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian army announced today, Friday, that the death toll of Russian soldiers has risen to 151,370 since the start of the military operation on February 24 of last year.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated, according to the Ukrainian news agency (Ukrinform), that during this period, "Russia also lost 3,405 tanks, 6,673 armored vehicles, 2,402 artillery systems, 484 multiple rocket launcher systems, and 247 defense systems." air forces, 301 combat aircraft, 289 helicopters, 18 warships, as well as 5,281 vehicles and fuel tanks, and 873 cruise missiles were destroyed.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, in a video speech to the Human Rights Council held at its fifty-second session in Geneva, accused Russia of committing horrific human rights violations in Ukraine.

He said that the council played a decisive role in shedding light on it through the establishment of the independent international commission of inquiry on Ukraine, whose first report issued last October concluded that Russia had committed war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law. Blinken said that as long as Russia continues to wage its war, the commission of inquiry should Continue to document such violations and provide an impartial record of what is happening and a basis for national and international efforts to hold perpetrators accountable.
In his speech, the US Secretary of State also accused Iran of suppressing citizens demanding human rights and fundamental freedoms, since the killing of the young woman, Mahsa Amini, in September, which led to the Iranians taking to the streets, and indicated that at least 500 people were killed in the demonstrations, and tens of thousands were imprisoned, where many were exposed them to torture.

The US Secretary of State condemned what he described as the brutal repression practiced by the Taliban against women and girls in Afghanistan, including preventing them from enrolling in universities and secondary schools. In a country where 29 million people depend on humanitarian aid to survive, the Taliban's decision will significantly reduce the amount of food, medicine and other life-saving aid that reaches vulnerable people, especially women and girls.

Blinken expressed concern about what he called the ongoing genocide and crimes against humanity committed by China against Uighur Muslims and other members of minorities in Xinjiang, pointing out that the report issued last year by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed the grave violations committed by China in the region.
