The European Union condemned in the strongest terms the execution of the Swedish-Iranian citizen Habib Shaab, and once again recalls its strong opposition to the application of the death penalty under any circumstances. The European Union offered its condolences to the family of Mr. Shaab and expresses its full solidarity with Sweden. A European statement issued in Brussels, of which we received a copy, "The death penalty violates the inalienable right to life enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and is a cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment."
The European Union called on Iran to refrain from any future executions and to pursue a consistent policy towards the abolition of the death penalty.
The European statement concluded by saying that the increasing number of EU citizens and EU citizens of Iranian origin arbitrarily detained in Iran, the restrictions imposed on consular access for EU nationals, and the denial of consular protection and the right to a fair trial, constitute a direct violation of international law.
In the same context, a statement by the National Council of Resistance of Iran, of which we received a copy on Sunday, said, "Fearing the people's uprising and in order to save the velayat-e faqih regime from falling, Ali Khamenei recorded a new record of executions and crimes in recent years. According to the statement, Khamenei's judiciary executed 16 prisoners last Thursday and within a week (Saturday 29 April to Friday 5 May) no less than 44 prisoners, including 23 Baloch citizens. 31 executions were reported in the past days' data.
On Friday, May 5, two prisoners, Faramriz Shaki and Behzad Hanifi, were executed in Urmia prison. On Thursday, May 4, 4 prisoners, including Jalal al-Din Rahimian, 23, in Lakan Prison in Rasht, northern Iran, Habibullah Faqir Dadzhi (Sakhi) in Isfahan Central Prison, and Idris Jerjeej, a resident of Zahedan, in Turbat Jam prison, northeastern Iran, Hamid Emamizadeh, 23 years old, in Khorramabad Central Prison, Hamid Mousavi, 23 years old, in Ardabil Central Prison, and Mehdi Farkhi and Muhammad Ali Bani Ibrahimi were executed in Qarhelisar Prison in Karaj by the executioners of the judiciary. With the counting of 6 prisoners executed on the same day in Mashhad and Yazd prisons, the number of those executed on May 4 is 16 prisoners. Mohammad Malek Dadzhi (Riki) was also executed in Mashhad Central Prison on Tuesday, May 2.
On Saturday, May 6, Khamenei's executioners executed Mr. Habib Asyud, who was taken to Iran in a kidnapping by the regime's Ministry of Intelligence in November 2020. Two other prisoners, Abdullah Khan Mohammadi and Salahuddin Majidi, were also executed today in Medina prison. salmas.
