Finance ministers of the eurozone countries, the "unified European currency", will meet at noon Monday in Brussels, provided that the meeting will be expanded on Tuesday with the accession of ministers from the rest of the member states of the European Union.

According to what was issued by the European Ministerial Council in Brussels, the European Commission is expected to present during the meeting its economic forecasts for the spring. On this basis, the Eurogroup will exchange views on economic prospects and challenges for policy coordination in the future. On the basis of the Commission's memorandum, the ministers are expected to take part in a discussion on the challenges facing the corporate sector in the Eurozone in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions.
Ministers will also receive information on recent international meetings, including recent meetings of the Group of Seven. Finance ministers and central bank governors. Ministers of the member states of the Banking Union will hear the biannual report of the chairmen of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) and the Single Resolution Council, Andrea Enria and Dominique Laborix. After the chairmen attended the previous Eurogroup meeting in April, this will provide more insights into the state of the banking sector in light of recent financial events. As usual, the participants will also hear reports on supervision and decision-making activities in the competence of the institutions. The Eurogroup will also coordinate a comprehensive exchange of views on the international aspects of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and on the progress of the digital euro project. The Chair of the Eurogroup will present his views on how to advance the capital markets union as a follow-up to the European Summit in March 2023 and in line with discussions at the Eurogroup meeting in plenary form on 28 April 2023. Ministers are expected to discuss the way forward and provide their views on a guiding plan for future work On this subject in the Eurogroup, without prejudice to the ongoing legislative discussions in the Council.
