The annual International Conference on Energy Poverty will take place on September 19-20, 2023, at the historic Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki) in the vibrant city of Warsaw, Poland.
Organized by the Energy Poverty Advisory Center (EPAH) and the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) of the European Commission in collaboration with the City of Warsaw and with the support of the Energy-Cités (PNEC) Regions and Polish Energy Network (PNEC), the event is expected to be an important gathering for local governments and policy makers. and experts and stakeholders dedicated to addressing energy poverty and promoting sustainable solutions at the local level.
As announced by the European Commission in Brussels, this event aims to address the transition from emergency coping mechanisms to sustainable policies and measures to reduce energy poverty for all, including energy-poor and vulnerable consumers, and to discuss recommendations to member states and municipalities as appropriate frameworks for their use. in addressing energy poverty.
The national and local governments of Poland will be mobilized to address energy poverty, including by applying for technical assistance to develop local actions through calls of an Energy Poverty Advisory Center.
The city of Warsaw has been at the forefront of the climate and energy transition and has made it one of its priorities to tackle energy poverty. By bringing the International Annual Conference of the Consultative Center on Energy Poverty 2023 to Warsaw, we aim to reflect on the transition from temporary emergency strategies to sustainable policies and initiatives with the goals to:
Put the new reality of energy poverty on the agenda at all levels of government.
Exchange between cities with different records in addressing energy poverty.
Supporting cities to identify and adopt long-term policies to address energy poverty.
Reflect on potential EU recommendations for good practice to address energy poverty at the local and national levels.
