
UN report: Africa can become a new force in international supply chains

A report issued by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) stated that African economies can contribute significantly to international supply chains by taking advantage of their vast resources of materials needed by advanced technology sectors and their growing markets. The report on economic development in Africa stated that creating an enabling environment for technological industries will help raise wages, which are estimated to be the lowest at two hundred and twenty dollars per month, while the average wage in the Americas is $668.
The report stressed the African continent's need for more investments in the field of renewable energy to help bridge the large investment gap in this field and address other obstacles to manufacturing solar energy panels on the continent.
