Saudi Arabia has entered the history of sports, specifically football, in the broadest possible way, after it gained the honor of organizing the World Cup alone in the 2034 edition, with the new system that includes 48 teams without a joint organization, as is the case in the 2026 editions, with the participation of 3 countries and 6 countries in the 2030 edition.
America, Canada and Mexico will host the 2026 edition with a 48-team system, and Spain, Portugal and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 World Cup, with the exception of Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the tournament.
Swiss Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football, announced that Saudi Arabia would be given the honor of hosting the 2034 World Cup, after it applied alone to host the tournament.
Thus, Saudi Arabia has become the third Arab country to host the World Cup after Qatar 2022 and Morocco, which will host the event jointly organized with Spain and Portugal in 2030.
FIFA confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the only country that has applied to host the 2034 World Cup.
This came after Australia announced its withdrawal from the race to host the tournament, leaving Saudi Arabia alone in that marathon, while the continent of Asia decided not to submit any other file and be content with Saudi Arabia’s offer to host the prestigious tournament.
