The European Investment Bank confirmed the growth of the loan portfolio directed to France to reach 12 billion euros over the past year.
The European Investment Bank explained - in a statement - that loans were directed directly or indirectly to the private sector, local authorities and regional institutions, amounting to 10.6 billion euros from the European Investment Bank and 1.4 billion euros from the European Investment Fund, which focuses on financing small and medium-sized companies.
The bank revealed that France was the second largest beneficiary of European Investment Bank Group financing last year in Europe, after Italy.
He stressed that the bank's main areas of activity in France in 2023 were loans directed at combating climate change and adapting to its harmful effects, supporting innovation and public utilities, and sectors that help strengthen the European Union's sovereignty and strategic independence.
This came after the European Investment Bank revealed that it had provided a total loan package worth 12.22 billion euros to Italy to stimulate the country's economy.
The European Investment Bank explained - in a statement today - that last year witnessed the signing of 89 successful transactions, while Italy was the main beneficiary of the European Investment Bank Group’s financing to contribute to reviving the economy.

EIB Vice President Gelsomina Vigliotti said: “In 2023, against the backdrop of increasing geopolitical and economic instability, the EIB Group played a key role in maintaining economic growth in Italy, promoting investments that support the climate and energy transition, and economic development in the south of the country.” and digital innovation.”

She continued: “We have strengthened our role as the climate bank in Italy and the European Union... and the financing allocated to environmental sustainability and energy security in the country exceeded the record levels for 2022 of 1.5 billion euros, and reached 7 billion euros...
