The Secretary-General of the United Nations visits Cairo and Amman as part of his annual solidarity visit during the month of Ramadan

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will arrive in the coming hours in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, where he will begin his annual solidarity visit in the holy month of Ramadan, “which this year comes at turbulent times in light of the conflict in Gaza,” as the United Nations deputy spokesman said.
At the daily press conference, Farhan Haq reported that the Secretary-General is expected to reiterate his call for a humanitarian ceasefire and to silence the weapons, especially in Gaza and Sudan.
Haq explained that the Secretary-General, while in Egypt, will go to North Sinai, where he will visit a hospital in Arish and go to Rafah on the Egyptian side, where he will meet with United Nations humanitarian workers.
The Secretary-General is expected in Cairo to have breakfast with a number of refugees from Sudan who fled their country due to the ongoing hostilities, and will emphasize his calls for a cessation of hostilities during the holy month of Ramadan.
While in Cairo, Guterres will meet with a number of Egyptian officials, according to the United Nations daily news bulletin.
The Secretary-General will continue his Ramadan solidarity visit in the Jordanian capital, Amman, where he will visit the facilities of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and he will also have breakfast with a number of Palestine refugees and United Nations employees in the Jordanian capital.
While in Amman, the Secretary-General is expected to hold meetings with Jordanian officials.
