Hamas describes the new ceasefire proposal as “positive”...and Israel responds to Biden: Hamas must be eliminated first

Washington - Tel Aviv: Agencies - Europe and the Arabs
The Palestinian Hamas movement responded positively to the recent proposal for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Hamas said in a statement that it was positive about the plan announced by US President Joe Biden a short time ago. European media in Brussels were interested in the proposal and the reactions to it, and the Belgian newspaper News Bilad said, “Hamas confirms its readiness to be open to any proposal that puts a final end to the fighting.” But the movement It also expects a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the reconstruction of the devastated area, the return of all displaced persons, and a “serious” exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners. Biden called on Hamas to accept the new “comprehensive” proposal put forward by Israel.
Israel: “The war will not stop without eliminating Hamas”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office responded to US President Joe Biden's speech regarding the new ceasefire proposal. Tel Aviv said that the war "will not stop" without the military destruction of Hamas. “The Israeli government is united in its desire to return our hostages as quickly as possible. The Prime Minister has assigned the negotiating team to propose a plan to achieve this goal. At the same time, we stress that the war will not stop.” Until all our goals are achieved, this means returning all our hostages and destroying Hamas’ military and administrative capabilities.”
On Friday, US President Joe Biden revealed a new proposal submitted by Israel for a ceasefire and called for an agreement on that. Biden said Friday at the White House in Washington: “It is time for the war to end.”
The new Israeli proposal consists of three stages and has been presented to Hamas. “It is a roadmap for a permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages,” Biden said.
He added that if Hamas really wants a ceasefire, it can prove it by agreeing to the deal. Biden told Israel that it could enter into the deal without fear for its security. After months of war, Hamas can no longer cause a massacre like what happened on October 7, the president says.
Biden said: “I know that there are some in Israel who do not agree with the plan and are calling for the war to continue indefinitely.” “Some even in the ruling coalition have made it clear that they want to occupy the Gaza Strip.” Biden complains that they want to continue fighting for years and that releasing the hostages is not a priority for them. “I have called on Israeli leaders to support this deal,” Biden said.
Biden explained in his speech that the Israeli proposal includes, in an initial phase, the withdrawal of all Israeli forces from Gaza for a period of six weeks, a complete ceasefire, and the release of some hostages, most of whom are women, the sick, and Palestinian prisoners. This temporary ceasefire could become permanent if Hamas “fulfills its commitments.” In the next stage, all hostages who are still being held in the Gaza Strip after their kidnapping on October 7 will be released.

In response, Israel says the war "will not stop" without the military destruction of Hamas.
Jordan holds an emergency humanitarian summit for Gaza
Jordan is scheduled to host an emergency international summit to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip in mid-June. The government Petra Agency reported on Friday that the summit will be held on June 11 and has been coordinated with Egypt and the United Nations.
The summit aims to find ways through which the international community can respond more strongly to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. Jordan also announced that heads of state and government will attend the summit, along with senior officials from international relief and humanitarian organizations.
Both Jordan and Egypt have repeatedly condemned the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of war. In the Gaza war, Egypt mediates with the United States and Qatar between Israel and the Islamic Hamas movement.
