A European statement issued in Brussels by the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy Coordinator, Gunn McNab, said that the fourth round of meetings of senior officials at the expert level between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates was held yesterday within the framework of the cooperation arrangement between the European External Action Authority and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC). ).
The meeting, which was held in a friendly and forward-looking atmosphere, contributed to strengthening the comprehensive bilateral partnership between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates on the basis of the European Union’s 2022 Joint Communication on the Strategic Partnership with the Gulf.
Discussions took place in three working groups on “Trade and Economic Diversification,” “Security and Counter-Terrorism,” and “The Global Agenda.”
In this regard, the two sides discussed issues of common interest, such as trade and investment; Preventing and countering terrorism, violent extremism, and broader security issues; Climate change; Green transition and development cooperation, as well as operational priorities in the areas of humanitarian assistance, education, research and innovation, with the aim of deepening cooperation and intensifying synergies.
The meeting was co-chaired by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European External Action Service and the European Commission. The next meeting of senior officials will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2025.
