Developments in the Horn of Africa, Sudan and the Nile waters are the focus of talks between Egypt and the European Union

Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt's Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, the European Union and NATO, recently met with the European Union's Special Representative for the Horn of Africa, Annette Weber, where they exchanged views and assessments on developments in the Horn of Africa, Sudan and the Nile water file. According to a statement issued by the embassy, ​​Ambassador Abu Zeid reviewed during the meeting Egypt's efforts to enhance security and stability in the Horn of Africa region, and Egypt's efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis and end the ongoing war, shedding light on the repercussions of the crisis on neighboring countries, most notably Egypt.

The Egyptian ambassador also reviewed Egypt's efforts to support the stability of Somalia, whether through bilateral or multilateral frameworks, stressing the importance of standing by Somalia at this critical time and preserving the gains achieved in combating terrorism and supporting the Somali government's efforts to build the state and restore stability and security.

For her part, the European envoy was keen to share with the Egyptian ambassador the European Union's assessment of developments in Sudan and Somalia, noting the importance of coordination and continuous communication to achieve progress in enhancing stability in the Horn of Africa region. Veer also praised the great efforts made by Egypt to support peace and stability and end conflicts in the African continent.
