"80 Years in the Service of Humanity" is a UN message through the Rabat International Book Fair

Rabat - New York: Europe and the Arabs
"Eight Decades of Positive Impact in the Service of Humanity" is the title of a mural at the United Nations System Pavilion in Morocco at the 2025 Rabat International Book and Publishing Fair.
The occasion is the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, as Fathi Dabbabi, Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Rabat, explained to UN News.
Dabbabi said, "We participated in the exhibition with a historical perspective in the form of a large mural displaying a series of major events witnessed by the United Nations over the past 80 years."
Not only that, but it also showcased Morocco's engagement with the United Nations to build a better world over the nearly 70 years since its membership in the UN in 1956, according to Dabbabi.
Fatihi Dabbabi explained that they reviewed "the most important milestones in the history of the United Nations," such as the adoption of the UN Charter and the Convention on the Political Rights of Women, as well as other milestones such as the eradication of smallpox. He added, "In other words, all the work undertaken by the United Nations for the benefit of humanity that has become part of history."
Morocco's Participation
The Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Rabat said they also highlighted Morocco's participation since its accession to the United Nations, including its contribution to "strengthening the role of the Arabic language and adopting Arabic as a working language within the framework of United Nations bodies."
Among the highlights was Morocco's contribution to the working mechanisms of the Human Rights Council and other engagements, including in the areas of climate, migration, dialogue of civilizations, and combating violent and hate speech in general.
Dababi pointed out that Morocco also played a major role in supporting peacekeeping operations within the framework of the United Nations, adding that Morocco is now the ninth country in terms of troop contribution to UN peacekeeping operations.
Convergence and Positive Impact
Dababi emphasized that the pavilion, titled "UN 80," was an opportunity to bring all this information closer to the Moroccan public, "so that they can understand the importance of the United Nations and also the role Morocco has played within the framework of the United Nations. This has had a very positive impact."
He pointed out that the exhibition was also an opportunity for all UN organizations to participate in organizing small dialogues within the framework of the United Nations Pavilion in Morocco. He said the dialogues focused on several topics, including health, refugees, migration, climate change, education, and artificial intelligence.
He emphasized that the United Nations pavilion in Morocco witnessed a large turnout during the exhibition, and was visited by a number of officials, including the Mayor of Rabat.
Fathi Dabbabi stated that participation in the exhibition was a joint effort by the United Nations Communication Team, which includes representatives from all UN bodies and agencies. He added that the participation was within "a single framework of different voices, each voice from these organizations or bodies concerned with the focus of their work, according to their mandate."
