Gaza: Europe and the Arabs
On the 710th day of the war on the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces continued their intensive military operations, with air and artillery bombardment targeting residential neighborhoods and camps for displaced persons, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
In recent days, strikes have focused on high-rise residential buildings in the center of Gaza City, displacing thousands of people and forcing hundreds of families into extremely difficult humanitarian conditions.
According to the website of the European news network in Brussels, Euronews, these developments coincided with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio's visit to the region on Sunday to discuss developments in the conflict, at a time when the pace of military operations is increasing and the circle of destruction and displacement is expanding.
For its part, Israel has confirmed its intention to advance into Gaza City, which is home to approximately one million people, as part of its stated goal of "eliminating the capabilities of the Hamas movement." Israeli authorities indicated that its military operations have intensified in areas it describes as the movement's "last strongholds" within the Strip. New casualties in the Gaza Strip since dawn due to Israeli airstrikes
Medical sources in Gaza hospitals reported that 17 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Strip since dawn today, including 16 in Gaza City.
Zamir: Netanyahu does not reveal the next stages in Gaza
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir informed members of the Knesset of the uncertainty surrounding the course of the war in Gaza and the so-called "day after."
According to the newspaper, Zamir said he did not know whether the government intended to impose military rule in the Strip, noting that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "does not inform them of the next stages."
Zamir also described the system for distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza as a "failure," while warning of the proposed military plan for Gaza City. He added that this plan could entail risks to the lives of soldiers and detainees if implemented. Israel bombed 10 UNRWA buildings in Gaza in the past four days
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, announced that, in the past four days alone, Israeli forces bombed 10 UNRWA buildings in Gaza City, including seven schools and two clinics currently used as shelters for thousands of displaced people.
Lazzarini explained that UNRWA teams continue to provide essential and vital services in other areas of the northern Gaza Strip and throughout the rest of Gaza.
According to the UN daily news bulletin, the UNRWA Commissioner-General said that airstrikes on Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip are escalating, and that more people are being forced to leave, "lost and heading into the unknown."
In a statement published on the X website, Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said: "There is no safe place in Gaza and no one is safe."
He noted that 10 UNRWA buildings in Gaza City have been bombed in the past four days alone. This includes seven schools and two clinics used as shelters for thousands of displaced people. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has been forced to suspend health care in Beach Camp, the only health-care center available north of Wadi Gaza.
Lazzarini said that the agency's vital water and sanitation services are now operating at only half capacity. He added that the agency's 11,000 teams continue to provide vital services in other parts of northern Gaza and the rest of the Strip.
He emphasized the commitment of UNRWA staff to serving their communities despite all odds, and noted that UNRWA staff themselves live under extremely inhumane conditions. He said their determination to continue working in the face of these inhumane conditions is inspiring.
He asked, "How long will it take to take action to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza?"
