Gaza – Washington: Europe and the Arabs
The ceasefire in Gaza remains in place despite a deteriorating humanitarian situation and the limited amount of aid entering the territory.
The Gaza Government Media Office revealed that Israel has committed 282 violations of the ceasefire since it began on October 10, resulting in the deaths of 242 Palestinians and injuries to more than 620 others, according to a statement.
For its part, the United Nations announced that efforts to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip continue to face significant obstacles, despite the fact that a month has passed since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect. According to the European news network Euronews in Brussels, under the headline "Vaccinating Children in Gaza After Two Years of Deprivation," the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip launched a catch-up vaccination campaign targeting children under the age of three who missed essential vaccinations during the two years of war.
The Knesset Passes Bill to Execute Palestinian Prisoners in First Reading
The Israeli Knesset passed a bill on Monday evening in its first reading that would allow the execution of Palestinian prisoners.
The Hebrew Broadcasting Corporation reported: "The bill passed with a majority of 39 Knesset members (out of 120), with 16 voting against it." It added: "During the session, a heated exchange erupted between (Arab) MK Ayman Odeh and (the extremist Minister of National Security Itamar) Ben-Gvir, which nearly escalated into a physical altercation." The legislation was submitted by the far-right Otzma Yehudit (Jewish Power) party, headed by Ben-Gvir. Before being put to a vote in its first, second, and third readings to become law, the bill was referred to the relevant authorities a few days prior. Specialized Knesset committees are preparing it for a vote.
The bill stipulates that "any person who intentionally or negligently causes the death of an Israeli citizen, and when the act is carried out with racist or hateful motives and to harm Israel, should face the death penalty."
UN: Obstacles to Aid Reaching Gaza
The United Nations announced that efforts to increase humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip continue to face significant obstacles, despite a month having passed since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect.
