Washington – Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
While the world is preoccupied with the football tournament currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, tensions and attacks between Iran and the United States have escalated again due to the renewed closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The United States launched attacks on approximately 140 targets early Sunday morning, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM). These attacks came in response to Iranian attacks on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran subsequently launched attacks on US military bases in the Gulf states and Jordan. According to CENTCOM, the targets included missile and drone launch sites, naval facilities, ammunition depots, communications networks, and coastal monitoring centers. The attacks were carried out on the orders of President Donald Trump, as reported by European media outlets in Brussels, including the Belgian newspaper Newsblad.
The Americans had launched two series of attacks earlier this week. During these attacks, more than 300 targets were struck over three nights, with the aim of weakening Iran's ability to attack commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. According to Tehran, the Cypriot-flagged container ship JFS Galaxy was flying an unauthorized route, leading to its attack. As a result, the Strait of Hormuz, vital to global trade, was closed again, and the Americans retaliated with further strikes. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that the new US attacks subsequently led to further attacks on US military bases in the Gulf states and Jordan. In the first phase, "important infrastructure and military installations" at the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan were targeted, according to the IRGC's Sepah News Telegram channel. They added, "The continuation of US aggression will lead to stronger reactions."
Sirens sounded and explosions were heard in several Gulf states during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The Interior Ministry announced that sirens sounded in Bahrain, and the security situation in Qatar was described as critical. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera reported that residents had been informed the danger had passed. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that its air defenses were intercepting missiles and drones. According to the ministry, the explosions heard in the country were a result of these interceptions.
According to the United States, Iran attacked three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
As a result, the United States reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil and launched retaliatory attacks.
The Iranian military threatened a devastating response, asserting that the Strait of Hormuz remained under its control.
Donald Trump declared the ceasefire over.
The US military launched further attacks on Iran during the night of Saturday to Sunday, following an attack on a container ship.

India condemned the attack on the container ship JFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman, according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. New Delhi stated that the Indian Embassy in Oman was closely monitoring the situation and in contact with the relevant authorities. Of the 11 Indian nationals aboard the ship, 10 were rescued, according to the ministry. One Indian crew member remains missing. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. India reiterated its call for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the region.

New wave of attacks on Gulf states; residents advised to stay indoors again
Gulf states faced a new wave of attacks Sunday morning, after the US launched strikes on 140 Iranian targets overnight in retaliation for an Iranian attack on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on the "X" program Sunday morning: "The era of unilateral deals is over. We told you: keep your word or pay the price." According to the US Central Command in the Middle East, three US attacks this week targeted more than 300 sites.
In Qatar, a second security alert was issued Sunday morning around 6:30 a.m. Belgian time, according to Al Jazeera. Residents were advised to stay indoors after receiving a message earlier in the night stating that the threat had passed. In Bahrain, air raid sirens sounded for the second time shortly afterward. There, the Interior Ministry warned residents to seek shelter in the nearest safe place. Shortly after 6:00 a.m. Belgian time, the Kuwaiti military announced it was responding to air raids. A press release stated: "The military command clarifies that the sounds of explosions heard are related to the intervention of air defenses to intercept hostile attacks."
