A new service from "Tik Tok" that fills your life with music

ByteDance, the parent company of the TikTok application, has applied to register a trademark in the name of “TikTok Music”. This indicates that the Chinese application intends to enter the music streaming application market and compete with market leaders such as Apple Music. The new service that the application seeks will allow the user to create and share playlists, play, upload, share and add comments on music tracks, while providing a service for broadcasting audio and video clips of music, according to what was stated in the patent submitted to the US Patent Office. Regarding the goal of “Tik Tok” behind the new service, social media expert Muhammad Al-Harthy told “Sky News Arabia”, that it “comes in line with the nature of the platforms whose success was based primarily on short videos, and the provision of some features for the use of music, such as recording videos. on music clips and movie scenes. He adds, "The application has found, through artificial intelligence measurements, that clips based on musical effects are among the most attractive to users, expecting that the new service is what users of the application need." “Tik Tok” relies on a strategy that constantly increases the value of broadcasting new features “to keep users as long as possible on the application, attract more of them, and then attract more ads according to the business model of any social networking platform, and thus reap more profits,” according to Al Harthy. It was not the first time that ByteDance registered a trademark that entered the music world, but it did so in Brazil, Indonesia and India through an app it launched in 2020 under the name “Resso”. The advantages of "Resso" are similar to "TikTok Music", in that it allows creating music lists and sharing songs on social networks. It was possible to enter "Reso" through a new button in "Tik Tok", so that the user would listen to the full music tracks if he liked certain music within "Tik Tok"; This gives ByteDance the opportunity to keep users within its integrated world of services for as long as possible. The number of Riso's monthly active users in India, Brazil and Indonesia reached 40 million last November, according to The Information. The rate of monthly use of “Tik Tok” increased by 304% during the period between January 2021 and January 2022 in India only, according to the “Business Insider” website at the beginning of this year, which is a record growth rate if compared to the rate achieved by competing companies in this field during the same period. in India. But we don't know yet, whether the new ByteDance feature will rely on Riso or if the company intends to launch an entirely new service to change the shape of the current music market.
