Schulz refuses to use the word apartheid to describe the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

RELIM (Reuters) - German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to use the word apartheid to describe relations between Israel and the Palestinian territories, after a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. "It is normal that we have a different assessment regarding Israeli policy, and I want to say frankly here that I do not support the use of the word apartheid and do not think it correctly describes the situation," Schulz said during a joint press conference with Abbas in Berlin on Tuesday.
