I Love Science Festival : a free 3-day science festival in Brussels

On Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 October, Brussels will be transformed into the
top destination for science and technology. That's when the I Love Science Festival will
take place in sheds 1 and 2 at Tour & Taxis. Over the course of three days, there will
entertainment, workshops, exhibitions, VR experiences, labs and lots more for all ages.
Special guests Dirk Frimout and Frank De Winne will be joining us too. And, for the very
first time, the Women Award in Technology & Science will be presented. Once again, the
festival is completely free of charge.
The annual I Love Science Festival is ready and waiting to welcome 15,000 visitors who are
keen to experiment with science, technology and innovation. As previously, this edition will
have an inclusive approach. Ever since 2018, it has been the festival's intention to bring
people of all ages in contact with the fascinating world of science. The Love Science Festival
was launched on the initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region, through Innoviris.
Barbara Trachte, Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, responsible for Economic Transition and Scientific Research: "The popularisation, promotion and awarenessbuilding of science are really important at a time when environmental and social challenges
are so significant. The I Love Science Festival is a wonderful opportunity to make science
accessible and fun. And naturally also to convince young people, and young women in particular, to do something with science.”
7 themed science villages
During the festival, the general public can actively discover more about science, technology
and innovation across more than sixty stands. These are run by all kinds of institutions,
associations and universities. The festival features seven different themed villages:
Technology, Ingenuity, Art, Nature, Humans, Creativity and Space. Outside, you can visit
seven science trucks. Besides animation, workshops, exhibitions and debates, there will also
be performances at I Love Science.
Spacial Guests
This year, the festival will welcome two of the greatest names in space travel. Dirk Frimout,
the first Belgian astronaut to go into space, will come and share his experiences. In fact, it is
one of his favourite pastimes to get young people excited about science and technology.
