According to local media in Brussels, the Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the suspect in the attack on two police officers in Schaerbeek last Thursday evening is under an arrest warrant for murder and attempted murder in a terrorist context. The person is still in the hospital and the investigative judge has not yet heard from him. This was not possible yet because his medical condition did not allow it yet. Belgian media said this is exceptional.

Last Thursday evening, Jason and his colleague Thomas, two police officers from the Brussels-North Police District, were patrolling the Schecherbeek district by car. When they were stopped at a red light around 7 pm, they were attacked with a knife. The attacker stabbed Thomas, who was driving the police car, in the neck. Jason was wounded in the arm. Shortly thereafter, the assailant was shot by a police patrol called in for assistance. Thomas did not survive his serious injuries and died in the hospital. His colleague was seriously injured, but he managed to leave the hospital on Saturday afternoon to continue recovering at home.
