Births in Belgium decreased by 2.4% compared to the average for the period 2018-2021

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
In 2022, approximately 113,800 births will be registered provisionally in Belgium. That's about 2,800 births less than in 2018-2021, or a decrease of 2.4%.
  The regional differences are significant:
The figures show a somewhat slight decrease in the Flemish region (-1.2%) and the Walloon region (-0.6%) and a significant decrease in the Brussels-Capital region (-11.1%) compared to the period between 2018-2021.
This is evidenced by the first provisional overview of the number of births in 2022 from Statbel, the Belgian statistical office.
The publication contains the provisional number of births at the county level in 2022 and is based on the January 21, 2023 extraction from the National Register.
It is noteworthy that the population of Belgium currently reaches approximately 11 million and 300 thousand people, and a large proportion of Arab and African communities, especially Moroccans and Turks, live in Belgium. They came in the middle of the last century to work in the field of rebuilding what was destroyed by World War II.
Foreign immigrants are a major factor behind the increase in the number of births in many European countries, as some immigrant families include between four and six children, while many European families are keen to have one child or two children at most.
