The Public Prosecutor stated today at its headquarters in Karlsruhe that the seven men, who were arrested, are accused of establishing a terrorist organization in Germany, and that they were active in it. He said the aim was "to carry out attacks that influence public opinion in Germany, according to the concept of the Islamic State."
As for the men who were arrested in Germany, they are accused of originating from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, and adopting an Islamic stance.
Radical, according to the allegation. The German prosecutor's statement added that shortly before the start of the war in Ukraine, these men traveled together to Germany and formed a terrorist organization.
The prosecution explained that a person from a group of men arrested in the Netherlands also belonged to this organization. According to data from the Dutch authorities, another man and his wife were arrested. Dutch prosecutors said in a separate statement that the man was suspected of belonging to the Islamic State group and had been ordered to plan an attack, though no plans had yet been drawn up.
The German Public Prosecutor added that the defendants were in contact with members of the regional branch of ISIS, which is the "Islamic State Organization - Khorasan Province."
The prosecution added that potential targets for carrying out attacks had already been explored and possible places to commit the crime, and added that the defendants had already tried to buy weapons, but there was no concrete attack plan yet.
It is scheduled that the accused will be presented to the investigating judge of the Federal Supreme Court in Karlsruhe throughout the day, Thursday and tomorrow, Friday.
