The Belgian authorities released half of ISIS widows upon their return from conflict areas

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
Of the twelve women widows of ISIS fighters who were returned to Belgium in 2021 and 2022, six were released. This is what MP Koen Metsu from the Flemish Alliance (N-VA) party said, who described what happened as “absolutely shameful” and “a threat to our national security.” According to what media in Brussels reported from the Belgian News Agency on Wednesday morning.
Belgium repatriated six of the so-called "widows of the Islamic State" or wives of a number of fighters who participated in the conflicts, especially in Syria, following their return to our country in 2021 and 2022. Of the six women who were repatriated in 2021, one remains Just in detention, according to N-VA MP Koen Metsu. Among the six women who were brought to our country in 2022, one was released. According to a member of the Belgian Parliament: “Half of them are at large.”
Metsu has long described the repatriation of ISIS widows as "incomprehensible." The N-VA member finds it "absolutely shameful" that half the women are now free. “What should victims of attacks and their loved ones think?” Metsu asks.

"He should lose his citizenship"
Mitsu also points out the cost. According to him, the cost of repatriation is estimated at about 2 million euros. He continued: "This number is increasing day by day, given that society pays 150 euros per day for every ISIS woman in prison today."
The N-VA member reiterates the call for terrorists to be brought to justice in the country where they committed their crimes. If this is not possible, MP Metsu calls for them to be brought before professional judges and to immediately lose their Belgian citizenship if convicted. In addition, it remains necessary for these terrorists to remain under surveillance for life after serving their full sentence. Metsu concludes that this provision should be mandatory for every conviction for terrorist crimes.
