A free trip for more than 36,000 young people across Europe to learn about its cultural heritage and history

36,318 Europeans aged 18 will receive a free ticket to explore Europe's diversity, learn about its cultural heritage and history, and connect with people from all over the continent. This is thanks to the DiscoverEU initiative, funded within the framework of the Erasmus+ program. According to a statement by the European Commission in Brussels, successful applicants received notification of this after submitting their applications in October 2023. They will travel mainly by rail between March 2024 and May 2025.
“Discover Europe represents a unique opportunity to embark on an unforgettable journey through Europe, where each stop creates new connections and highlights Europe’s multifaceted beauty,” said Ileana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. To all the young adventurers who are stepping out on this wonderful journey: May every location broaden your perspectives, may every interaction enrich your soul, and may every encounter leave a lasting memory!
The Discover Europe application round was open to young people born between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2005 from EU Member States as well as from countries linked to the Erasmus+ programme. In total, 144,038 young people applied. It includes a project or initiative
  Discover Europe also has an educational dimension, with pre-departure information exercises or meetups across Europe.
