Today, Monday, the UN Security Council will hold a special session on arms exports to Ukraine, where the session will be held under the heading “Threats to global peace and security.”
Adayaji Ibo, Deputy High Representative for Disarmament Affairs at the United Nations, stated that the session will be held at the request of the Russian delegate to the Security Council.
The UN Security Council will also hold a special meeting, chaired by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, who will talk about the situation in Ukraine from the agency’s perspective and the danger of its deterioration. According to what the Middle East News Agency reported and was reported by the Youm7 website in Cairo.
This came after the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on Sunday strongly condemned the attack launched by Ukrainian forces on the Donetsk People's Republic, which resulted in the killing of more than 20 people.
“The Secretary-General strongly condemns all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, including today’s bombing of Donetsk,” the Office of the UN Secretary-General said in a statement.
Guterres stressed that "attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international humanitarian law, are unacceptable and must stop immediately."
Denis Pushilin, President of the Donetsk Republic, announced that the death toll from the Ukrainian bombing that targeted a market in the city of Donetsk on Sunday morning had risen to 28 dead and 30 wounded, including children.
The "Novosti" agency reported that Ukrainian forces fired at least 6 155 mm shells into the city's Tekstilchik neighborhood, where a large number of markets and stores are located.
For its part, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the bombing of the city of Donetsk by Ukrainian forces, and called on international organizations and governments to condemn this terrorist attack.
The statement called on governments and international bodies to condemn this terrorist act, and added: "Silence over this attack will mean non-public approval of the killing of civilians, and will encourage neo-Nazis in Ukraine to commit more bloody crimes."
On an almost daily basis, Ukrainian forces target infrastructure and civilians in the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, using terrorist methods, with the support of NATO forces.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine, the goal of which President Vladimir Putin described as protecting people who had been persecuted and genocidal by the Kiev regime for eight years.
Putin added that it is also for the sake of disarmament and eliminating the Nazi trend in Ukraine, and bringing to justice all war criminals responsible for “bloody crimes against civilians” in Donbass.
