Moscow: NATO activity in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea is directed at a possible clash with Russia

Moscow: Agencies
The Russian Foreign Ministry described NATO's activity in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region as being directed to prepare its members for a possible clash with Russia.
A statement by the ministry, on its official website today, Thursday, stated that NATO’s expansion of its air base in Romania and the increase of its forces in Eastern Europe, the Black Sea region, and in Poland and the Baltic countries is further evidence that NATO continues to militarize for a possible clash with Russia, according to what the Middle East News Agency reported today.
The statement added that this activity is provocative, exacerbates military tension along the Russian border, creates additional threats to Russia's security, and aims to prepare NATO members for a possible clash with Moscow, pointing out that Russia will monitor and follow Romania's steps and assess emerging risks based on its military plans.
The Romanian authorities had previously announced that they would invest 2.5 billion euros in modernizing the Mihail Gogalniceanu Air Base in Constanta Province to accommodate 10,000 soldiers and their families.
It is noteworthy that Russian President Vladimir Putin recently denied that his country was moving towards the borders of NATO countries, pointing out that it is the alliance that is moving towards Russian territory, stressing that Moscow is not about to fight the alliance, which scares the people of its countries from Russia to extort their money.
