Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The Belgian Senate unanimously adopted a resolution supporting Mrs. Maryam Rajavi's ten-point plan.
This is according to what was stated in a statement issued by the Iranian opposition, a copy of which we received. The statement stated that on Friday, April 19, the Belgian Senate passed a unanimous resolution to support the Iranian people and Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan.
The Belgian Senate on Friday unanimously adopted “a resolution outlining the alarming and increasing human rights violations by the Iranian regime,” the statement added.
The resolution, introduced by several senators in March 2024, is more than 4,000 words long and addresses human rights violations in Iran, including the killing of 750 protesters in the 2022 uprising.
The decision indicates that, in the eyes of the Iranian authorities, the Guardian Jurist’s opposition to the regime constitutes opposition to God.
The resolution cites a statement issued by members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which calls, in solidarity with President Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan, for the regime’s leaders to be held accountable for their crimes, to recognize the right of the Iranian people and their right to resist and fight for their freedom, and to include the Iranian regime’s guards on the list of Terrorism.
The objectives of the resolution were formulated within the framework of Belgium's current presidency of the European Union and called for four articles.
Take immediate measures to rescue thousands of prisoners, especially political prisoners at risk of execution
Holding the leaders of the Iranian regime accountable for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide
Supporting the right of the Iranian people to resist the mullahs’ oppressive regime to establish a democratic republic separating religion and state.
Classifying the Iranian regime’s guards as terrorists, which results in the punishment of those who provide them with material support.
The resolution also calls on all relevant European Union governments to call on the Iranian authorities to abolish the death penalty, prohibit all forms of torture, including sexual violence, and prevent the execution of persons under the age of 18 in all circumstances.
The Belgian Senate unanimously calls on European governments to expand the current list of individuals and organizations banned from traveling to the EU and whose assets have been frozen for anyone responsible for human rights and freedom of expression violations.
Calls on European governments to condemn the sentence against Dr. Ahmad Reza Jalali and call on the Iranian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release him, as well as all EU citizens unjustly imprisoned as a result of Iran’s hostage diplomacy.
The Belgian Senate calls on European governments to take measures against Tehran's illegal activities targeting the Iranian opposition outside Iran and to guarantee the rights of members of the Iranian opposition in accordance with the 1951 Geneva Convention, the European Convention on Human Rights and international law.
