Tunisia and Italy sign a twinning agreement in the cultural field

The Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs signed a twinning agreement with the Italian Ministry of Culture, represented by the Director General of the Collese Archaeological Park in Rome, Alfonsino Russo, within the framework of the official visit made by the Italian Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, to Tunisia.
The Tunisian Ministry of Culture stated - in a statement on Saturday - that the twinning agreement concerns the Archaeological Park in Rome and the El-Jem Palace in Mahdia to value the two sites and enhance tourists’ exposure to the cultural and historical heritage that unites the two countries. For his part, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Ministry of Culture in Tunisia, Moncef Boukatheer, said that the civilization that was based on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea reshaped the geopolitical map of the world, so it has become necessary to establish more comprehensive cooperation that concerns the fields of cinematic and theatrical production, literature, and festivals, noting that the Italian presence At the El Jem Festival, symphonic music is a fundamental pillar of its programming, calling for attention to the field of scientific research in heritage and other fields within the framework of fruitful cooperation for both parties.
For his part, Italian Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano affirmed his country’s readiness for bilateral cooperation, especially cultural projects, pointing out the importance of strengthening cultural tourism, considering this agreement a starting point for other partnerships. He specifically mentioned the archaeological sites of Kerkoan and Neapolis. He also appreciated the choice of Italy as a guest of honor at the Tunis International Book Fair in Its 38th session.
