Leaders of NATO countries meet in Washington... and ministerial and military meetings are held to prepare for the summit

A statement issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels said that the United States will host the NATO summit in Washington, DC, on July 9-10-11, 2024. According to what was announced in the international military establishment, there will be preparatory meetings for the summit, both at the level of army commanders. Chiefs of Staff” or at the ministerial level to prepare for the summit, in which the leaders of member states will participate and headed by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. The most prominent points on the agenda of the meetings during the summit will be the work priorities and challenges that NATO is currently facing, including developments in the war file in Ukraine and the policy of deterrence and defense pursued by the Atlantic Alliance. Currently, in addition to the defense spending file and other files related to regional and international developments and the internal affairs of the alliance.
  According to what was issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels, there will be a ministerial meeting, which is an informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers, in Prague, Czech Republic, on May 30-31, 2024. The highest military authority in NATO, the Military Committee, is also scheduled to meet on May 16. 2024, at the level of Allied Chiefs of Defence. Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the Military Committee, will chair the in-person meeting, which will also be attended by the Ukrainian Defense Chief. They will be supported by General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander (SACT).
The NATO Military Chiefs of Defense Staff Committee (MCCS) meeting will enable the Chiefs of Defense to meet and discuss issues of strategic importance to the Alliance.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will join the Military Committee at the opening session to address the Alliance's key priorities and challenges.
The first session will see the Chiefs of Defense meet in the form of a NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss Russia's aggressive war on Ukraine, the situation on the ground, and NATO and allies' continued support for Ukraine.
The second session will see General Cavoli, SACEUR, briefing the Chiefs of Defense on the progress made towards the implementation and feasibility of implementing the set of DDA plans adopted at the Vilnius Summit in July 2023 (in preparation for the Washington Summit). Expanded discussions will also be held on empowerment, integrated air and missile defence, defense industrial capacity and societal resilience.
The third session will be chaired by General Lavin, SACT, and will focus on implementing the Multi-Domain Operations Concept and the Warfare Development Agenda (WDA) that provides the blueprint for NATO's military transformation over the next 20 years. More intensive discussions will also take place on the alignment of defense operations and planning within the NATO defense planning process.
