The European Commission in Brussels said today that it welcomes the agreement to amend the international health regulations, which were reached at the World Health Association in Geneva today. International health regulations are a set of international binding on global health crises management, which were agreed almost 20 years ago. IHR revised countries will help prevent and respond to acute public health risks and improve the structure of global health security.
The Commission also welcomes the agreement taken by the World Health Society to continue negotiations on the epidemic agreement with the goal of reaching consensus by the upcoming World Health Association in May 2025.
The European Union is still firmly committed to these negotiations, which will be based on the tangible progress that has been made over the past two years, and will continue to work with all partners and stakeholders with the aim of creating a stronger, more flexible and more equitable health structure for the future, where decisions pay countries that are a party to the agreement
