The General Assembly elects five non -permanent members of the Security Council ... Somalia, Pakistan, Panama, Greece and Denmark

On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly elected five new members of non -permanent seats in the UN Security Council between January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2026. According to the United Nations daily news bulletin, we received a copy of the United Nations this morning
The new member states are the Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Panama and Somalia. The non -permanent seats are devoted to the Security Council for the regional regions of the world, where two candidates were elected to both the African Group and the Asian countries and the Pacific countries, namely Somalia and Pakistan.
Pakistan received 182 votes, while Somalia received 179 out of 185 votes who participated in the vote.
In the Group of Latin American countries and the Caribbean, one seat was elected and Panama obtained it with 183 votes out of 184 who participated in the vote on this seat.
In the group of Western European countries and other countries, two seats were elected by Denmark by 184 votes, and Greece 182 out of 188 who participated in the vote.
