Nearly 1,100 companies declared bankruptcy in Belgium last month

In June 2024, the company courts registered 1,088 bankruptcies. This represents an increase of 29.2% compared to May 2024, when the number reached (842).
The Belgian statistics agency, Statbel, published an extensive report that includes the most important developments in the monthly bankruptcy figures.
In it, the number of bankruptcies recorded in June 2024 is lower compared to the same month in 2023 (-0.4%), but higher than the number of bankruptcies in 2022 (+0.6%).
At the regional level, the number of bankruptcies in each region increased compared to May 2024. Compared to June 2023, this number increased in the Brussels-Capital Region (+18.0%) and compared to June 2022 in the Walloon Region (+13, 6). %).
Since the beginning of this year, company courts have declared 3,365 bankruptcies in the Flemish region. This number is 8.0% higher than the previous record of 2023 (3,117).
